Biography
Formed in late 2005, Chicago’s Red Plastic Buddha have developed a sound reminicent of the best elements of late 60s British psychedelia mixed with a decided garage rock energy. Their sound alternates between swirling sonic landscapes and catchy, melody driven pop.

Founding members were Timothy Ferguson (vocals, bass guitar), Todd Lazar (lead guitar), Todd Leiter Weintraub (guitar, backing vocals), Dav Kling (drums, percussion) and Matt Walters (keyboards).

After recording Sunflower Sessions (SK024) for Spade Kitty Records, Leiter-Weintraub left to pursue his own project (Hop on Pop). He was replaced by ex-Loomis frontman Tom Valenzano in late 2007. Shortly thereafter, The Red Plastic Buddha added Pralines leader Pamela Richardson to help out on backing vocals.

Said front-man Timothy Ferguson, “losing a member like Todd is never easy. We were very fortunate to find Tom and Pam both looking for a new adventure. They have turned out to be God-sends and have really allowed us to open up our sound. The new songs we’re writing together are sounding amazing.”

Sunflower Sessions continues to receive glowing reviews and the Buddhas have had a song (Clouds) placed on the upcoming PBS series Road Trip Nation.

In addition to television spots, The Buddhas filmed two videos and are currently juggling public and private live shows with preparations for a return to the studio in late 2008.
